Who We Are

Here is who we are: Asgard Alaska Incorporated is an Anchorage-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire Alaskans through history-centric experiences. A small volunteer board of directors guides the work, and it is made up of our three founders. Our goal is a place where people can learn how the Norse and other past societies really lived, surrounded by Alaska’s wilderness, and find their own crew while they are at it.

Where we stand: we are creating an open-air Viking museum and campground in Alaska. Right now we are in Phase 1 of our Roadmap, which is raising the Land Fund to secure a site. The museum is not open yet.

What We Study: The Old Ways

Our focus is the old ways: how people cooked, forged, sailed, told stories, and governed themselves before the modern world, made hands-on and open to everyone. The Norse are our first love, and our reference pages show it, from the Norse Mythology Vocabulary to the Viking Timeline. Wherever you live, you can start there today. Who We Are and Who We Work With

To make Our Mission real, we are building relationships with people who share our passion for history and with organizations working to keep Alaska’s outdoors wild. We hope to partner with historical societies, local museums, reenactment groups, and outdoor clubs. If that describes your group, let’s talk.

We also believe you should be able to check our work, so Asgard Alaska holds Candid’s 2026 Platinum Seal of Transparency, which puts our goals and progress on the public record.

Who We Are Becoming: The Community We Hope to Gather

Asgard will be more than exhibits; it will be a gathering place. We picture strangers trading stories over a fire, a blacksmith showing a teenager how to draw out a nail, and everyone heading home a little more connected than when they came. A Viking ship needed every oar pulling together, and so does a project like this one.
