All corporate powers of this Corporation shall be exercised by a volunteer Board of Directors, and the Board may delegate management of the day-to-day operation of corporate business to such others as the board may designate. Glen, Amanda, and Scott Kratochvil founded Asgard Alaska and currently serve on the Board of Directors. As the organization grows, the board will expand to include additional members of the public and the local community. The board shall not exceed 15 members. The Board of Directors meets quarterly and board meetings appear as events in our calendar.
Glen Kratochvil, President
Glen Kratochvil is the founder, President of the Board of Directors, and Executive Director of Asgard Alaska. After earning a bachelorโs degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, he moved to Alaska in 2004 to work in national service with the AmeriCorps program. While managing programs in the nonprofit sector for nearly a decade, Mr. Kratochvil became a visionary and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys building, woodworking, and exploring the majestic beauty of his adopted state of Alaska. Glen’s interests currently focus on building a successful open-air museum and campground where people of all ages can also enjoy Alaska and learn about Viking culture.
Glen Kratochvil is a highly motivated individual who excels at whatever he does. He has been preparing and researching for this venture for a number of years. His strategic planning and execution make him well suited to lead the organization.
Amanda Kratochvil, Vice President
Amanda Kratochvil is a co-founder and Vice President of the Board of Directors for Alaska Asgard. She has nearly 20 years of service in the nonprofit sector, along with a volunteer background in public service and first response. Mrs. Kratochvil is an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Alaska Bird Club, and the Alaska Pioneer Fruit Growers Association. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys spending time in the Alaskan outdoors, including gardening, foraging, fishing, and backpacking. Her wide range of skills, interests, and experience will be assets to Alaska Asgard.
Scott Kratochvil, Secretary
Scott Kratochvil is a co-founder and Secretary of the Board of Directors for Asgard Alaska. Mr. Kratochvil is a software engineer and professional writer by trade. He studied computer science and English literature at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Mr. Kratochvil, who is an adventurer and world traveler, has also taught English in Prague, Czech Republic. Scottโs volunteer experience includes living and working on the Lady Washington, a replica of an 18th-century American tall ship, and helping to rebuild a historic farm in Central Bohemia. An avid camper and hiker, he loves exploring the backcountry of Americaโs national parks and has through-hiked the entire Oregon portion of the Pacific Crest Trail. His vast experience and passion for history, literature, and the outdoors will serve Asgard Alaska well.
