Asgard Alaska Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 87-2144192) working to build an open-air Viking museum and campground in Alaska. The museum is not open yet, so we are in Phase 1 of our Roadmap, raising the Land Fund so that we can secure a site. Below, you can meet the Asgard Alaska board of directors who steer that work.
Asgard Alaska is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. Our three founders, Glen, Amanda, and Scott Kratochvil, serve as the founding board. As we grow, however, we will add directors from the wider Alaska community (our bylaws allow up to 15). The board keeps the organization true to Our Mission and on course along that roadmap.

The board meets quarterly, in March, June, September, and December; all meetings are posted on our event calendar.
Meet the Founding Asgard Alaska Board
Glen Kratochvil, President
Glen Kratochvil is Asgard Alaska’s founder, Board President, Treasurer, and Executive Director. A University of Nebraska–Lincoln graduate, he came to Alaska in 2004 to serve with AmeriCorps and spent nearly a decade managing nonprofit programs. He is a builder, woodworker, and outdoorsman who has spent years researching open-air museums and Viking history, and he now leads the effort to build one where people of all ages can learn about Norse culture and enjoy Alaska.
Before founding Asgard Alaska, Glen spent several years studying open-air museums and living-history sites in Scandinavia and North America. Today he handles the organization’s planning, finances, and day-to-day operations.
Amanda Kratochvil, Vice President
Amanda Kratochvil is a co-founder and Vice President of the Board of Directors for Asgard Alaska. She has nearly 20 years of service in the nonprofit sector, along with a volunteer background in public service and first response.
Amanda is also an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Alaska Bird Club, and the Alaska Pioneer Fruit Growers Association. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys spending time in the Alaskan outdoors, including gardening, foraging, fishing, and backpacking. Her wide range of skills, interests, and experience are assets to Asgard Alaska.
Scott Kratochvil, Secretary
Scott Kratochvil is a co-founder and Secretary of the Board of Directors for Asgard Alaska. A software engineer and professional writer, he studied computer science and English literature at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and has taught English in Prague. He has lived and worked aboard the Lady Washington, a replica 18th-century tall ship, helped rebuild a historic farm in Central Bohemia, and hiked the entire Oregon section of the Pacific Crest Trail. He brings a passion for history, literature, and the outdoors to Asgard Alaska.
