This past weekend, Asgard Alaska’s founders, Amanda and Glen Kratochvil, had the joy of participating in the Three Barons Renaissance Fair—and what a time it was! Glen and Amanda took to the field in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) heavy combat demonstrations, joining fellow warriors in showcasing the armor, discipline, camaraderie, and skill that bring historical traditions to life.
Despite the rain, the spirit of the event never wavered. The food was as delicious as ever, but perhaps nothing captured the magic of the weekend more than the simple joy of standing in the rain, sharing ice cream with friends, and laughing like wet but victorious raiders after a long day.
A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out last Thursday to help set up tents, the pavilion, and all the infrastructure that made our presence at the fair possible. Your early efforts were critical in setting the stage for a successful weekend, and we truly couldn’t have done it without you.
We also want to give a special shout out to all the volunteers and supporters who braved the damp and helped keep spirits high throughout the fair. You are the backbone of the community, and your dedication does not go unnoticed.
And remember—we’ll be back next weekend and the SCA need your help again! We’re expecting much better weather (because frankly, it would be nearly impossible for it to be worse), and your hands will help make the work lighter, the banners higher, and the fun even greater.
As a wise Northman may well have once said: “Many hands lighten the burden, and many hearts make strong the shield wall.”
Skål to you all—and see you next weekend!
