Imagine a Viking village where you can learn to shoot a bow, spin wool, or hear a saga told the way it was meant to be heard, out loud, by firelight, in Alaska’s wilderness. That is what we are building: a welcoming, inclusive space for anyone who loves history. Everyone is welcome here, and we mean everyone.
Where we stand: the village is planned, but it is not open yet. Right now we are in Phase 1 of our Roadmap, raising the Land Fund so that we can secure a site for the museum and campground. The Roadmap sets out every phase from land to longhouse, and you can follow the build to watch it happen.
The Heart of Our Viking Village: A Longhouse
The centerpiece of our shared space will be a historic Viking longhouse, where visitors can gather for events and fellowship. This longhouse will also serve as a hub for cultural exhibits, historic art displays, and traditional trades, bringing the landscape to life.
What Visitors Will Do in the Viking Village
Hands-on skills – Visitors will be able to try cooking, archery, blacksmithing, spinning, and swordplay for themselves.
Festivals and events – The longhouse and its grounds will host festivals, gatherings, and more.
Overnight stays – Guests who want to stay the night can sleep in authentic turf houses and other historical lodgings.
What We Do Before the Viking Village Opens
Phase 1 is groundwork. Above all, we are raising the Land Fund and building our team and partnerships. We are also running Asgard Alaska in the open: we hold Candid’s 2026 Platinum Seal of Transparency, and you can meet the people behind it.
For now, this website is also where we bring the Viking Age to life. We publish articles on Norse myth and history through the year, and we keep three reference pages: the Norse Mythology Vocabulary, the Viking Timeline and Names of Odin and What They Mean. In addition, you can use our Viking Name Generator to find a Norse name of your own.
A Place for Everyone to Contribute
We want Asgard to be shaped by the people who care about it. Whether your passion is history, the outdoors, or something in between, there is a place for you here. We are always looking for ideas, feedback, and helping hands, and our supporters’ input will guide how the project grows.
