This has been an exciting year. We finally got the chance to walk the earth and explore some different properties in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. We wanted to see if they would be suitable for our intended use as a historic Viking settlement and open-air museum. The properties we explored were between 10 and 20 acres in size. They had waterfront access, were accessible by main roads, and had electricity available. We brought plenty of bug spray as we walked the terrain and compared them to our vision. Unfortunately, we have not yet identified the proper space. We learned some things and were able to better narrow the scope of our search. We will provide an update on that a little more in another post.
Update: Here is a link to a post in which we describe some more of the features we are looking for in a location to be used as the home of our open-air Viking museum and campground.
