Day 1 of Mörsugr

December 25

Mörsugr is an ancient Viking month that occurs during the winter, often following the Yule period, which is centered around the winter solstice. It is known as “the bone-sucking month” because it was the coldest, longest, and darkest of all Viking months, a time when resources were scarce and the survival depended heavily on the stored food, particularly animal fat. The name itself reflects the need to consume stored fat to survive the harsh winter conditions.
